10 innovation experts to whom you should be listening

As the publisher of the world’s largest innovation website, I have the opportunity to hear from and read the thoughts of many innovation experts. These are ten of the people whose insights have had the greatest influence on my thinking. Most of them publish articles and/or blog posts on a regular basis on the subject of innovation:

Jeffrey Phillips – Author of the Innovate on Purpose blog and the new book, Make Us More Innovative.

Steve Shapiro – Author of the 24/7 Innovation blog and the book of the same name, as well as the developer of the new Innovation Personality Poker card deck.

Jeffrey Baumgartner – Author of the excellent and frequently thought-provoking Report103 e-newsletter and founder of the JPB innovation consultancy.

Mitch Ditkoff – Creative guy extraordinaire; author of the eclectic and creative Heart of Innovation blog, the marvelous business fable Awake at the Wheel: Getting Your Great Ideas Rolling in an Uphill World and numerous creativity and idea management tools.

Paul Sloane – Frequent contributor to InnovationTools.com and other websites, author of The Innovative Leader and numerous books on lateral thinking, and author of the BQF Innovation blog.

Scott Anthony – Author of the Harvard Business School’s Innovation Insights blog, lead author of The Innovator's Guide to Growth: Putting Disruptive Innovation to Work and president of the Innosight innovation consultancy.

Rowan Gibson – Author of the excellent new book, Innovation to the Core: A Blueprint for Transforming the Way Your Company Innovates and a new contributor to InnovationTools.com.

Paul Williams – Author of the Think for a Change blog and the new Innovation Road Map; you can also follow his thinking on Twitter.

James Todhunter – Author of the insightful Innovating to Win blog and chief technology officer of enterprise innovation software firm Invention Machine.

Drew Boyd – Author of the Innovation in Practice blog and director of marketing mastery for Johnson & Johnson (Ethicon Endo-Surgery division). He brings an important and unique corporate perspective to the topic of innovation.

I apologize if I overlooked anyone when I was preparing this list; it’s not meant to be exhaustive, but rather a guide to 10 of the best “voices” in the world of innovation today.

If you want to suggest any other innovation authors or bloggers, please use the comments section of this post to do so. I look forward to your thoughts!

Nice list. A couple people that I think deserve mention is Gary Hamel and Umair Haque.

Great concept to develop this list. Surely there are some women who should be added.

Thanks, Chuck! I am honoured to be included on this list. But I do notice a major omission: you! As the creator of InnovationTools you are not only a top innovation thinker, but arguably THE top innovation aggregator, bringing together a wealth of useful information from all over the web.

Incredible! You have left out Edward De Bono. Of course, he doesn't belong to the TRIZ school of thought. But, definitely, he is a leading innovation expert.

There is certainly a lot of good thoughts out there. Besides the list of Chuck's ten I would add one whose constantly provides good depth on innovation to this list: Langdon Morris at Innovation Labs. He has provided a wonderful easy to read but well put together short book entitled "Permanent Innovation" and constantly provides plenty of thought pieces and articles that really help put some pieces of the innovation jigsaw together in specific ways. You find his material at www.innovationlabs.com

Hey Chuck: I'm honored! Thanks for your kind words, all your support, and your consistent commitment to offering the best of innovation insight, tools, and goodies on the web. Keep up the good work! Mitch
