Innovation Weblog

Innovators share a wealth of ideas on Twitter

The innovation community has adopted the social networking tool Twitter big-time. It has quickly evolved into a wonderful tool for (briefly) sharing ideas and resources, and for networking with other like-minded people.

Here’s a list of the people I follow who are “tweeting” about innovation and creativity, along with links to help you to explore what they’re talking about. Some of them post quite frequently, while others do so only occasionally. My recommendation is to click through to view each person’s Twitter page, and consider “following” them for a time. If they’re not adding any value to you, you can easily “un-follow” them. I look for thought leaders, who are sharing articles, websites, tips and resources that I wasn’t aware of. I urge you to do the same!

Chuck Frey – You gotta follow me, of course!

Paul Sloane – Popular author on InnovationTools.com and founder of the Destination Innovation consultancy; also, the author of numerous books and resources on lateral thinking.

Mark McGuinness – Author of the new Lateral Action blog, which takes on the twin topics of creativity and productivity.

FastCompany – FastCompany empowers innovators to challenge convention and create the future of business, and now brings its unique viewpoint to Twitter.

Scott Anthony – Scott is the president of Innosight LLC and author of the Innovator's Guide to Growth and The Silver Lining.

Renee Callahan – Editor of strategy and innovation for InnoSight’s InnoBlog.

Helen Walters – The innovation editor at BusinessWeek. She does a good job of keeping her finger on the pulse of innovation trends.

Mark Turrell – Mark is CEO of Imaginatik, a leading developer of enterprise idea management applications, as well as a thought leader in the innovation space.

DanielPink – Author of the best-selling book, A Whole New Mind, which extols the virtues of whole-brained thinking in today’s fast-changing business world.

Saul Kaplan – Saul is the founder of the Business Innovation Factory, a community of innovators collaborating to explore and test better ways to deliver value, and and chief catalyst behind the annual BIF innovation conference, held in the Boston area.

Jeff De Cagna – Founder of Principled Innovation and the blog of the same name.

Roger von Oech – Noted author of A Whack on the Side of the Head and A Kick in the Seat of the Pants.

Patrick McGowan – Author of the Apply Steam: The kinetics of thinking, ideas and innovation blog.

Paul Williams – Author of the Idea Sandbox consultancy and the SandBlog.

Paul R. Williams – Innovation consultant and fellow Cheesehead who writes the Think for a Change blog.

InnoCentive – The Twitter home of the innovative crowdsourcing community.

Matthew Greeley – Matthew is the founder of Brightidea.com, a provider of enterprise idea management systems.

Stone Payton - Stone describes himself as “a renegade obsessed with innovation execution." He regularly publishes interviews with innovative people on High Velocity Radio.

This is not an exhaustive list, by the way. These are the innovative people who I'm following. If there are any people you think would be valuable to add to this list, please do so in the comments area below.

One word of warning, however: I want you to tell me who YOU'RE following; I don't want to know about YOU being on Twitter. I want names that you have personally vetted over time, and who you continue to follow because they provide you with excellent insights on innovation and/or creativity. Thanks, and I look forward to your additions!
