Mindjet, the leading producer of mind mapping software, has just launched a browser-based viewer (currently in beta testing), which enables anyone using Microsoft Internet Explorer to view maps created in its MindManager visual mapping software. If you want to see it in action, download the Active X control for the map viewer and then visit RobiNZ CAD Blog for a fascinating demonstration of its functionality.
Using this new browser-based viewer, you can pan or zoom in and out on maps, hover over notes icons to display embedded notes, print maps embedded in web pages and much more. The interactivity of this new applet is truly impressive!
Mindjet's announcement emphasizes that this viewer makes it easier to share MindManager maps on web pages, intranets and even in weblogs. It should also expose more people to the powerful non-linear format of visual maps.
The move from a separate viewer application (which Mindjet has offered for several years) to embedding its functionality in the browser follows the trend in many types of software - where the browser is becoming the ubiquitous "front end" to display content from many sources. |
