Need some creative inspiration on your job? Look no further than The Heart of Innovation Blog, where Mitch Ditkoff recently posted a list of 100 simple ways to be more creative on the job. This stuff is like rocket fuel for your brain! Some of my favorites include these:
- Tape record your ideas on your commute to and from work
- Find the most creative people at work and ask for their ideas
- Transform your assumptions into "How can I?" questions
- Keep an idea notebook at your desk or in your briefcase
- Open a magazine and free associate off of a word or image
- Pilot your idea, even if it's not completely ready
- Make connections between seemingly disconnected things
- Create a wall of images that inspires you
- Divide your idea into component parts. Then rethink each part
Most of us spend far too much time in "head down mode," slogging through all of our must-do projects and priorities, and far too little time thinking creatively about them. Mitch's list is an awesome catalyst that anyone can benefit from.
Mitch doesn't pretend to have all the answers, either: He has invited readers to contribute their favorite ways of being more creative on the job, and has promised prizes for the best submissions. So why not check it out today! |
